This week, as I sought the Lord regarding His desire for this devotion, an odd thing occurred.
I was praying in the spirit and suddenly a “Christmas” song popped into my head, and I promptly began to sing it zealously (at the top of my lungs). I was thankful I was home alone because the singing came out with such vigor, it felt like steam coming from a hot tea kettle. As I sang the lyrics I had memorized, I could feel the Father’s delight in my praise.
When this episode was over, I inquired of the Lord how He wanted me to incorporate this experience into a devotion. I heard, “write out the lyrics so others may offer me unified praise”.
So, this week, simply read/sing these words and experience the joy of your salvation. Pay close attention to words/phrases that resonate or jump off the page at you.
Joy to the world! The Lord is come
Let earth receive her King!
Let every heart prepare Him room
And heaven and nature sing
And heaven and nature sing
And heaven, and heaven and nature sing
Joy to the world! The Savior reigns
Let men their songs employ
While fields and floods
Rocks, hills and plains
Repeat the sounding joy
Repeat the sounding joy
Repeat, repeat the sounding joy
Joy to the world then we sing
Let the earth receive her King!
Joy to the world then we sing
Let the angel voices ring
He rules the world with truth and grace
And makes the nations prove
And glories of His righteousness
And wonders of His love
And wonders of His love
And wonders, wonders of His love
Joy to the world then we sing
Let the earth receive her King!
Joy to the world then we sing
Let the angel voices ring
“Go ahead—sing your brand-new song to the Lord! He is famous for his miracles and marvels, for he is victorious through his mighty power and holy strength. Everyone knows how God has saved us, for he has displayed his justice throughout history. He never forgets to show us his love and faithfulness. How kind he has been to Israel! All the nations know how he stands behind his people and how he saves his own.”
