Listen and Respond

“Yahweh says: “The wise must not boast in their wisdom, the mighty must not boast in their power, and the wealthy must not boast in their riches. If you’re going to boast, then boast about this: that you understand my ways and know my heart, and you know that I am Yahweh. Let the wise boast in knowing how I demonstrate infinite love, true justice, and righteousness, for these are the things that delight my heart,” declares Yahweh.”

‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭9‬:‭23‬-‭24‬ ‭TPT‬‬

Permit yourself to take two minutes of silence. Take a couple of deep breaths, paying attention to the rising and falling of your chest and stomach. Pay attention to the air going into your nostrils and the temperature of the air being released.

Now, read the verses two times slowly.

You are invited to listen for the word or phrase that strikes you. This word or phrase might come across as louder than others, or it might resonate with an experience you’ve had. Or it may bring tears to your eyes or even cause feelings of resistance.

Listen and write down the word or phrase that you heard.

Next, reread the verse and listen for how the word or phrase touches your life.

In your silence, think about two questions:

How is my life touched by this word or phrase?

What in my life needs to hear this word or phrase today?

For your final reading, you are invited to listen to God’s invitation to you.

Is there an invitation?

Is there something God is inviting you to do or to be contained within His word to you?

What is your response?
